By 25 century, Human kind has spread away from our solar system and the milky way by starting to dominate intergalactic FTL travels, yet, earth is still the prime home for humanity, due to our short time traveling through galaxies, most of the travels are "no return expeditions", without even being able to communicate back to earth when very far. Also no other kind of intelligent life has been found.

In one of those expeditions, half the way to their destiny, in one of the many stops between FTL jumps (which last a few seconds and use to be near a planet or a star), a passenger at work looks through the window to see below on the planet, city lights!

The sad part of the story, is that in a few seconds that image will disappear, with no option of returning back, and the secret she just discovered will probably never be known by human kind, just a memory in her head doomed to vanish in the dark like her short human life.

PS: it's suppose to be a low orbit shot, so you can guess by the mountains that the planet should be very small.

also don't forget to leave a comment, this specific piece took a hell of time (and work) to be properly finished.

you can see it both ways, sad because no one will no, or glad to be the only person that in fact knows...

awesome!!!!!
yes, it looks a bit sad..... knowing that such a lng trip will end up while you're very old..... and you may not find what you're looking for

yep, but so out in space and so far there is no communication back to earth, these are no return trips, that's the sad thing, they can't turn back and are too away from home.

sorry, but that was the idea. :)

Perhaps the onboard computers record every single stop the ship makes on the way to its destination, and therefore this discovery wouldn't be lost? Just trying to give a glimmer of hope to the story ;-)

stock, she was looking through a window so perfect.
more details... can you elaborate more?

the terrain was a pain to make, made in bryce but worst is the ton of layers above from photoshop to make it look good, I never spent so much time on a piece, but I guess it paid off well:D
